The Board met to discuss a variety of items and approved the following.
First, to protect our neighborhood from those promoting scams like the people who came into Smithfield late last year purportedly selling magazines and intimidating some homeowners, a “No Soliciting” sign has been placed at our entrance. By posting this sign, individuals will be prohibited from selling door to door in Smithfield by the Town of Farragut and Knox County Codes.
On a related note, if you feel threatened for any reason, please contact the Knox County’s Sheriff’s Department dispatch at:
865/215-2444
Secondly, the Regulations applicable to the Smithfield Covenants and Restrictions have been updated after being reviewed by the Attorney for the Association. That update has been posted on the neighborhood website.
Work on the pool house chimney and grill has been completed.
The American Flag at the neighborhood entrance will be replaced. The Flag at the pool will be replaced this Spring.
Fox Den has agreed to remove the limbs overhanging the pool area at the same time maintenance is undertaken on that golf course.
Thanks to all those who helped with the Christmas decorations. This is the Volunteer State!
REMINDER TO ALL SMITHFIELD NEIGHBORS:
The Smithfield Covenants and Restrictions outline a number of guidelines, including vehicle parking on our narrow streets.
All neighbors are reminded to comply with (Article X, p.24, #6): “Long-term and/or overnight on-street parking of household vehicles is prohibited. Vehicles that cannot be accommodated in garage space or driveway should be parked at the pool parking lot.”
Please be aware that this is particularly important at NIGHT, when emergency and/or police vehicles may need
to access our homes, as well as neighbors into their driveways.

Please inform your landscape personnel
to not mulch around the greenway trees,
due to the negative effect over-mulching can have on the tree’s health.

Below is the June update from the Town of Farragut
April 2
It is the policy of the Town of Farragut not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, natural origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or veteran status pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Public Law 93-112 and 101-336 in its hiring, employment practices and programs.
ISSUE 32, JUNE 2025
School is out, so it's a great time to learn about local history at the Farragut Museum. Historic Resources Coordinator Kristi Vining talks about what's new at the museum, like a kids’ activity book and a new history booklet (both free, of course). Watch to learn more!
Construction has begun on nine new pickleball courts at Mayor Bob Leonard Park. The courts are expected to be ready for play by mid-October.
Demand for pickleball courts is high in Farragut, as it is across the country, says Parks & Rec Director Ron Oestreich.
"There are a lot of pickleball players who can't wait for more courts in Farragut," he says.
When the new pickleball courts are completed, courts at McFee Park will be dedicated to tennis.
The Town of Farragut Engineering Department will hold a public meeting on the design of Phase 2 of Virtue Road improvements at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at the Farragut Community Center.
This phase will improve Virtue Road from Vista Brook Lane to 2,200 feet south of Broadway Drive. Improvements include two 11-foot lanes with curb and gutter and a multi-use greenway/boardwalk. Phase 1 of the project was completed in April 2022.
The format for the meeting will be small groups at tables with copies of the design plan; engineers will be available to answer questions.
The newly-renovated Farragut Town Hall has new visitors every day. As a reminder, the Knox County Clerk/Knox County Trustee office on the first floor (immediately on the right if you enter from the front of Town Hall) provides Knox County vehicle registration renewal and the issuing and processing of notary, marriage and business license applications. You can also pay property taxes there.
The Farragut office does not offer driver's licenses, photo IDs or passports. Visit knoxcounty.org/clerk/location for information on which locations offer these services.
Town of Farragut offices are located on the second floor of Town Hall. There is an elevator to the right of the Farragut Museum entrance if stairs are not convenient.
Also, note that there is no longer a flag collection box in the Town Hall parking lot. Retired flags can be dropped in an interior box at the West Knox County Senior Center (239 Jamestowne Blvd., on the lower level below the Farragut Community Center) during business hours.
The Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen will vote on the second reading of the Town's FY2026 (July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026) budget at its regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.
The budget is a statement of the Town’s financial priorities, and approving it may be the most important thing the board does each year. If you want to see where Farragut is headed, consider attending this meeting.
A new season of fun has started at the Farragut Community Center, and you might be surprised by the wide range of offerings.
Families can get their craft on through a new Fiber Art Series or partcipate in the "Paint A Friend" Challenge. Adults can learn American Sign Language or get some energy out with Drop-In Dodgeball. Kids can maintain math skills through the summer with "Math Bites" sessions.
Check out the entire list of summer offerings at townoffarragut.org/programs. There's something for everyone!
